Inspiration was the BEACH since we have always dreamed of a beach wedding. There is something about the sound of the waves and the blues that really speaks to me, so we kept it blue and tropical. You really don’t need much when you have a gorgeous ocean/nature as your backdrop :). Our palette was blues and whites, with a little pop of coral in the bouquets.
Seashells and sea stars! Most of this was purchased on Etsy, and my mom went all out in true DIY fashion and put seashells in glass vases for the tables.
We used bouquets with light blues, white, navy, and coral. They complimented the bridesmaids dresses so well and really stood out!
Our DJ and our photographer were outstanding. People are still talking about the music to this day! The food was amazing as well, as we kept it southern and laid back with a nice buffet spread.
My dress was lace with a nude undertone, which really matched the beach sand well. It was a mermaid cut and looked gorgeous for pictures. It was form fitted, hugged every curve, and had an open back. I’ve gotten SO many compliments on how different it was from other gowns. I really wanted something different, and I am so grateful I found something that fit my personality so well.
We met in college through mutual friends. We clicked instantly when we realized that we had the same taste in music and food – the good things in life! We started dating the day before he had to move to NC for work, and I had another year of college to do, so we kept it going long distance and it made us that much stronger. I moved in with him shortly after graduating. He proposed on the beach (of course!). It was a little rainy that morning, so the entire beach was empty. There were birds flying all around us and it was the best moment of my life. We were at the beach for a 3-day concert and all of our friends were there to celebrate with us. Swoon!
I couldn’t wait for the reception – I was so excited to let loose and party with all of our friends after all of the long months of planning and standard wedding stress. Best day ever!
We had a long engagement (over a year), so we had ample time to plan things out. It’s also very important not to stress out too much and do what YOU want. Don’t feel the need to do everything by the book or what somebody else has done – make it your own!
